Geneva 2018: Confirmed to BMW release of the i4 electric car

BMW prepares new model on the basis of a concept of iVision Dynamics presented last year on a motor show in Frankfurt. The production electric car under the name BMW i4 will become one of twelve electric models which the company is going to release by 2025.

Plans of the German producer became known at BMW press conference within the Geneva motor show. As the CEO of BMW Harald Krueger reported, production of BMW i4 will be arranged at the plant in Munich. “By 2025 our global line of cars will include 25 in whole or in part of the electrified models. We presented our view of the future of electric mobility with BMW iVision Dynamics on a last year’s motor show in Frankfurt. This car will become a reality: we will construct it in Munich – as BMW i4”, – Kruger told, speaking at a conference.

The four-door compartment will take the place in a model range of BMW between i3 and i8, near future iX3. Externally the novelty differs from all current models of the German car maker a little though at an exterior of a concept there are some stylistic remarks borrowed the concept of Vision Next 100 provided in 2016. For example, vertical radiator grid and LED optics. One more distinctive feature of future electric car – the full-size panoramic roof stretching from front to a rear screen. According to Kruger, the serial version of model, except for some small parts, will look also, as well as the provided concept car.

The basis of i4 will be formed by new modular architecture which can be used both for electric, and for the diesel, petrol and hybrid BMW models. The electric car will equip lithium – ion rechargeable batteries.

According to in the company, BMW i4 will be able to compete with Tesla Model 3. The cruising range of the electric car will make 542 km. Acceleration time from the place to 96 km/h – 4.0 pages. Maximum speed – more than 193 km. In the market of BMW i4 will appear by 2020.
